Introduction
Today, crime levels all around the world are soaring up due to many different reasons. In order to counteract them and stop this and try and cope with this growing problem, there is a need for a good criminal justice system. Seeing as how there are many criminals which are arrested by the police, but somewhere along the process manage to get released by some technicality or some defect in the system, there is a dire need to improve the criminal justice system, if we are to try and minimize this escalating crime wave that has been happening for
decades now.
The Need for Collaborative Work
For this improvement to truly be comprehensive and most effective, it is
necessary to improve all aspects and factors in the criminal justice system, including the police, the courts, prisons, etc. Should only of these or some will be changed but the other will remain unchanged, it will not be as effective, since the criminals will be able to find loop holes in the system and skate from justice.
Criminal Justice Section
There is no area of the law that attracts greater public attention than criminal justice, since "problems plaguing the criminal systems routinely make headlines" (Robinson, 1988). This is why the public is so anxious and wants answers on how to solve these problems. To solve this, a new vocal leader arose about four decades ago, called the ABA Criminal Justice Section. It consists of private criminal-defense lawyers, public defenders, prosecutors, law professors and state and federal judges. The Section aims to help create improvements in the criminal justice by pressing the government and other authorities and support the legislation of new laws which will reform and improve the current system. And with a relatively small section of about 8,500 members, the Criminal Justice System is one of the most active factors which regularly speak of important and relevant issues of the justice system. As people who are part of the system, they probably know best how to develop it to reach better achievements, and that is what they strive for (Robinson, 1988).
The idea of the Criminal Justice System is a good one, which should be adopted and replicated. It would be best if more committees are formed, attempting to better the situation. They will be able to provide more research or professional input about the subject, possibly helping the authorities responsible and reach a better, more informed decision which will progress current laws about the criminal justice system.
